The Municipality of Brescia has recently published the Third Report of the Alfa Acciai Observatory. Available for consultation at the following link, the document is the most recent update on the work of the Observatory and integrates the data of the previous report of 2021 (2011-2020), updated up to the year 2022.

The Alfa Acciai Observatory is one of the most effective examples, and an established best practice for reference, of transparent and constructive relationships between the company and institutions, citizens, and the local community: a winning synergy developed with the aim of providing information to all stakeholders, while collecting their requests and needs on a regular basis. A successful model that has produced positive effects, to be replicated in other similar contexts and experiences. 

Launched first in 2007, the Observatory was reinstated by a resolution of the municipal council in 2018, with the aim of promoting information about the plant and fostering a transparent debate with the various stakeholders through regular meetings (the minutes of the meetings can be read on this page), a round table that has proven to be a direct channel of communication between the company, local citizens and stakeholders, mediated by the local institutions.

As stated in the Introduction by Mr. Fabio Capra, President of the Observatory and Councillor for the Environment, Green Areas, and Parks:  

"Documents such as the Reports of the Observatories of the Municipality of Brescia, meet the need for easily and immediately accessible informative material, effectively disseminated, providing organised, commented and readable data, relevant to the issues and/or concerns that are most frequently raised by citizens and stakeholders"

The Report, and the Observatory in general, also represent a further stimulus and an opportunity for transparent reporting not only on the current situation of the plant, but also on the development and improvement projects launched and under examination, as emphasised in President Capra's Introduction: 

"The Report also focuses on the actions undertaken in the context of climate change to reduce CO2 emissions, with an interesting reference to circular economy as one of the main initiatives in the area of sustainability."
